![]() ![]() I think we should at least try to come up with a common host interface for both, so that the same WASM code that powers a e.g. I'm more interested in focusing on just making it easier to do optimization and control theory And if Sarbs tries to build MJ for KSP2 then I might jump in and help since I certainly would want to see it not fail. Other people could build MJ-like simple launchers on top of that (in languages other than C#).īut I don't even own KSP2 right now and I'm in watch and wait mode. ![]() Then I'd like to build a much better transfer planner/flyby finder/maneuver editor/executor, but focusing on expert use cases rather than novice. My thoughts though are that I'd rather build something so that WASM code built in other languages could run against KSP2 (kind of kRPC without the socket communication) along with a set of library code (lambert solvers, PIDs, optimization algorithms from alglib, etc) could be available to that framework "free of charge" along with sane right-handed vector/matrix/quaternion objects. There's obviously a high level of demand for KSP2 mods that do what MJ does for KSP1. The work I've done (nearly merged now) on extracting a lot of the code that I wrote into a more permissively licensed library IS really geared towards letting people copy battle tested code out of MJ and build mods. It attempts to do everything and does most of it badly. Depending on how much fuel you have, pick KSC, a landing point, or just "Land Somewhere." You may have to ditch your landing selection somewhere along the line if you run out of fuel.įlying to Mun is a great achievement and one which all aspire to accomplish.I'm somewhat unconvinced that MJ is the right way to go.Ensure "Deploy Parachutes" is CHECKED, unless you want to land retro-rocket style.Once you are back in Kerbin's gravity Well, close the Maneuver Planner and open the Landing Assistant.Cycle through the arrows until you see "Return from a moon" then click "Create and Execute".Auto-stage is checked (do not check if you are unsure of the staging setup).Īfter you have achieved a stable orbit around the Mun, pull up the Maneuver Planner again.Open the Ascent Autopilot from the MechJeb menu. In Career Mode, this is no longer optional unless you plan on sending a rescue mission. You can now extend the ladder and EVA (optional). Extend the gear once it says executing braking burn.Warp till 20000m (don't warp more than 3x).MechJeb will warp to the deorbit burn point.Alternatively, if you just want to land somewhere, press Land somewhere. Press Select target on the map and choose where you want to land.Ensure "Deploy Parachutes" is UNchecked. After you've entered the Mun's sphere of influence, open the Landing Autopilot from the MechJeb menu.Go to step 4 to land on the moon or skip to step 5 to return to Kerbin. You are now in the Mun's sphere of influence. Cut throttle when it is no longer an escape orbit (this is signified by the prescence of an apoapsis). After you enter the Mun's Gravity well, wait until you reach your periapsis, then burn retrograde. If you see your landing spot on the Mun or just want to land anywhere, skip to Step 4.In the Maneuver Planner use the arrows to select 'Hohmann transfer to target'.Go to the map view, and set the Mun as your target. After you have a stable orbit, close Ascent Guidance and open the Maneuver Planner from the MechJeb menu.Press Engage autopilot and hit the space bar to launch. Autostage is checked (do not check if you are unsure of the staging setup).Make sure the following settings are as listed: Open Ascent Guidance from the MechJeb menu. Step 3 - Launch the rocket using Ascent Autopilot Therefore, you should put it on the command module. ![]() If you put it on the lower stages, the upper stages will NOT have MechJeb capability. If you don't have the MechJeb Embedded mod you will need to add a MechJeb AR202 case. Add a Rockomax Jumbo 64 Fuel Tank, and a RE-I5 "Skipper" Liquid Fuel Engine beneath that. However, we must make some additions to allow Jeb to come home.Īdd a Rockomax Brand Decoupler beneath the lander's engine. Since the Kerbal X is already a very capable rocket, we will use that for our trip to the Mun. This extra mod enables MechJeb on all the command pods. MechJeb is an autopilot plugin that allows you get into orbit, and go to the Mun in the fastest and most efficient way possible. For version: 0.19 and above (tested on 1.0.5).2.3 Step 3 - Launch the rocket using Ascent Autopilot.
